President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday delivered what would be his fifth address since Twenty fifteen at the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly
Some issues have remained constant talking points since his first address like the rights of the Palestinian people to have their own country and the risks associated with nuclear proliferation.
But the Nigerian President explored a different tack calling for the UN to lead the way in the replication of a Marshall plan to consolidate development in Africa
The theme of the 74th General Assembly is: “Galvanising multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion”
In identifying a solution President Buhari takes on the stature of an African leader speaking for the entire continent.
He advocates for a Development plan along the lines of a Marshall plan and guarantees that Adeveloped Africa will not be antagonistic to industrialised countries but will become friends and partners in prosperity, security and development.
There is also a more assertive President evolving as is evident in his holding social media outlets responsible for fuelling major crimes.

President Buhari says major tech companies must be held responsible for facilitating the spread of religious, racist, xenophobic and false messages capable of inciting whole communities against each other
